Job Title: Donor Experience Engagement Consultant Department: Advancement | Development General Position Overview The Donor Experience Engagement Consultant is responsible for leading, implementing, and managing comprehensive programs that promote meaningful engagement opportunities and creative stewardship efforts for various signature initiatives at the Wexner Medical Center such as Endowed Chairs and Professorships, WEXMED Live, and cultivation-focused engagements. This position will focus on the entire donor cycle and work to create unique experiences that both cultivate and steward our constituents. Reporting to the Director of Donor Experience, the Donor Experience Engagement Consultant operates with an elevated level of autonomy and is required to have a high degree of organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and creativity. The Donor Experience Engagement Consultant must have polished interpersonal skills and be capable of interacting successfully with senior leadership, trustees, development officers, donors, physicians, administrators, and other key stakeholders. This position is responsible for proactively and independently realizing programmatic activities to include organizing and establishing priorities and managing projects with multiple deadlines and competing requirements. It also offers a flexible schedule including three days per week in the office and two days remote as agreed upon with the Director of Donor Experience. Department Overview The Wexner Medical Center Donor Experience team collaborates with colleagues from across the medical center, Health Science Colleges, Advancement, and the University to create opportunities to engage donors and show appreciation for and impact of their giving. The Wexner Medical Center Donor Experience team serves three interrelated, but specific donor audiences: donors to the Wexner Medical Center (WMC), OSUCCC/James, and the Health Sciences Colleges. Duties and Responsibilities 30% Creates and implements a strategic and innovative plan to steward chair and professorship donors on an annual basis. Provides unique and personalized annual touch points for both major and principal gift initiating donors, and chair and professorship donors at large. In partnership with senior leadership and development officers, thinks creatively how to steward and engage with the respective faculty appointees. Proactively seeks out opportunities to highlight/feature appointees and donors in communication pieces and/or engagement events. Tracks all stewardship plans and audit/update stewardship contacts for each chair/professorship in The Advancement System (TAS). Works collaboratively with Central Advancement Donor Experience team on this initiative to ensure larger goals and strategies align, as this is a university priority/initiative. Continues to evolve the overall stewardship plan by benchmarking both internally and externally with peer institutions. Develops a strategic and consistent plan for chair installation celebrations. Documents consistent processes and programing for inaugural chair installations and new appointment celebrations, in addition to celebrations for inaugural and new professorship appointments. Partners with Central Advancement Donor Experience team to ensure we are aligning with university standards, while still creating a unique and engaging experience for our respective donor audience. Leads conversations with senior leadership and development officers throughout the programmatic/planning process. Oversees all aspects of event logistics. 30% Develops strategic short-term and long-term goals for WEXMED Live, an engagement opportunity highlighting innovative, groundbreaking research across the WMC, OSUCCC/James and beyond. Leads all conversations with senior leadership, physicians, researchers, and central partners throughout the programmatic/planning process. Thinks creatively how to utilize this engagement as both a cultivation and stewardship tool with strategic follow-up tactics that help to move the needle forward with donors. Based on featured panelists, programing, and data, identifies the target audience for both virtual and in-person events, and proactively seek out additional audiences to engage. Oversees all aspects of the event to include securing leadership and panelists, invite list, programing, follow-up tactics, and event logistics. Performs regular data analysis on registrants/attendees to assist in building out strategy for future events. 30% Develops a strategic plan for cultivation-focused engagements that provide an exceptional and inspiring experience for our major and principal gift donor/prospect audience. All engagements should have a defined purpose, include concrete messaging around our campaign, capital, and unit fundraising priorities, and have strategic follow-up tactics/activities that are executed in an effective and timely manner. Evaluates existing stewardship signature events, based on data and benchmarking, and provides recommendations on how to proceed with existing events. Creates a suite of engagement opportunities for senior leadership and development officers to utilize that will assist in strengthening relationships with prospects, building pipeline, and generating interest in learning more, advocating, or supporting our efforts at large. Leads conversations with senior leadership, development officers, physicians, and the grateful patient team throughout the programmatic/planning process. Tailor strategic follow-up tactics based on development officer’s next steps and audience. Oversees all aspects of event logistics. Performs regular data analysis on registrants/attendees to assist in building out strategy for future events. 10% Assists with ever evolving campaign, capital, Advancement, and University priorities. Performs other duties as assigned. Performance Objectives First month Become familiar with the overall structure, resources, and processes of university and medical center advancement. Develop an understanding of the Department of Advancement and Wexner Medical Center fundraising and donor experience priorities. Onboard and build relationships with college, unit, and central advancement partners including Advancement Services, fundraisers, and development communications. First 2-3 months Learn event workflow and begin to assist in project management. Learn best practices for event management for the advancement operations team. Partner with Wexner Medical Center Donor Experience team to assist with execution and implementation of current events and stewardship efforts. First 12 months Independently implement and execute applicable Wexner Medical Center events and stewardship efforts and identify efficiencies and areas to improve. Develop strong and trusting relationships across the advancement team and with fundraisers, endowed faculty positions and engagement partners. Participate in professional development to continue learning best practices and strategies.
