Job Title: KSA, Research Technician Department: Engineering | Knowlton School of Architecture Administration The Knowlton School of Architecture is seeking Research Technician to work with Assistant Professor Parker Sutton for a short-term project. Candidates chosen will: Develop formwork prototypes for testing mycelium growth Measure and document mycelium growth to determine ideal conditions and growth substrates Translate mycelium growth data into diagrams Research “insect architecture” precedents Research habitat preferences of native insects to inform geometries for mycelium “pile” prototype Develop a method of evaluation for prototype Model mycelium “pile” at scale Assemble and install pilot mycelium “pile” at full-scale Aid in the fabrication of CNC-milled “pollinator column” Evaluate success of mycelium “pile” and “pollinator column” prototypes Provide context for next steps Qualifications Required: Master of Landscape Architecture, background in Zoology (preferred) Desired:1-2 years’ experience in the following: Digital fabrication, digital prototyping, digital design Additional Information: Location: Knowlton Hall (0017) Position Type: Temporary (Fixed Term) Scheduled Hours: 15 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
