Job Title: Locksmith 2 Department: Administration and Planning | FOD Operations Support The Locksmith 2 in the Facilities Operations unit will supervise or maintain the complete security lock system for The Ohio State University. Key Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair door hardware and the operation of all parts of doors, inclusive but not limited to latches, locksets, core, closers, handles, pivots, frames, actuators, buttons, mullions, thresholds, weather stripping, and automatic operating devices. Attend department meetings. Review building and renovation project keying design, blueprints, and door hardware schedules. Mentor, train, and provide technical expertise to other staff. Maintain daily time records. Manage the requisition of materials and maintain work areas. Perform other duties as assigned. Working hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate. May work overtime and is subject to 24-hour emergency calls. Minimum Education Required: Per Classified Civil Svc Specs Required Qualifications: Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing locks, exit devices, closers, doors, and related door hardware is required. Experience with cutting keys, combination, and installing cores and cylinders is required. Must be experienced in using hand and power tools to install doors, locks, and related hardware. Experience with Microsoft-based computer software. Excellent customer service, utilizing both written and oral communication skills. Valid Driver's License required. Successful completion of a background check, including a MVR is required. Certifications: Locksmithing certification or equivalent working experience (2 years).
