Job Title: Nursing Program Manager - Trauma Services Department: University Hospital | Trauma Program Job Description Scope of Position The Ohio State University is committed to Improving people's lives through innovation in research, education and patient care. The Education/PI coordinator is fundamental to initiatives of the Level I Trauma Program. This includes education, development, PI implementation, and PI evaluation of the program's efforts to improve the lives of our community through excellence in patient care, education and research in trauma. Position Summary This position will work in a close collaborative relationship with the Trauma Medical Director and the rest of the trauma team to develop, implement and evaluate OSUMC's trauma program. The position will be involved in all elements of the trauma program. They will develop a functional knowledge base in: Trauma data collection Trauma data entry Coding Trauma data validation and quality monitoring Trauma data analysis Program annual report Trauma data submission -OTR COTS NTDB Trauma education -Nursing Internal and external EMS Outreach Activities Physicians Assisting with outside educational opportunities Trauma Tactics Performance improvement and patient safety clinical oversight Internal and external liaison to the trauma program American College of Surgeons? verification process Research Alcohol and drug screening and intervention Community partner/leader -local Regional National Assumes day-to-day responsibility for the process and performance improvement activities as they relate to nursing and ancillary personnel and assists the trauma medical director in carrying out the same functions for the physicians. Required Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in nursing. A minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience with at least 2 years trauma, emergency, or critical care. The candidate must demonstrate leadership, excellence in written and oral communications. The candidate must demonstrate administrative ability and show evidence of educational preparation and clinical experience in the care of injured patients. They should be knowledgeable in matters of public health, epidemiology, fundraising, public speaking, marketing, education and public policy. The candidate should have a familiarity with performance improvement and patient safety activities. Must be capable in word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, and other computer data programs.
