What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at The Ohio State University?
Leads the delivery of various projects in the Office of Student Academic Success (OSAS) and at The Ohio State University at Newark, including initiatives focusing on increasing student-success outcomes (retention, time-to-degree completion, and graduation rates) of students who change to the Columbus campus from any of Ohio State’s regional campuses, and on improving pedagogy, academic advising and curricula at the Newark campus. (Work at the Newark campus will consist primarily of leading the PACE project—part of a larger project led by the Gardner Institute—and new projects that spin off from the PACE project.) Develops and presents recommendations for scaling projects across Ohio State’s campuses. Leads, designs, manages, and executes projects through all phases of the project life cycle, including initiation, needs assessment, requirements and specifications, design, implementation, and maintenance to budget, scope and schedule, and conclusion. Develops and maintains structured project plans, action items and meeting minutes. Leads meetings of project workgroups, including facilitating discussion around project deliverables, identifying action items, and assigning tasks to team members for follow-up and completion. Coordinates and performs collection, analysis, and assessment of both quantitative and qualitative data. Creates presentations and writes reports as needed. Engages and advises administrative leaders throughout projects, obtaining critical approvals and guidance.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working with college students and coordinating programs across many units desired; knowledge of university policies, rules and regulations; excellent communication skills; experience in manipulating, analyzing and reporting student data; strong experience with Microsoft Excel.
This 1.0 FTE Project Manager will develop and maintain structured project plans, action items and meeting minutes and lead meetings of project workgroups, including facilitating discussion around project deliverables, identifying action items, and assigning tasks to team members for follow-up and completion. The Project Manager will be hired to satisfy the duties as described further in the position description. OSAS-TAG and Ohio State Newark will split costing for the costs of the position (salary and benefits) on a 50/50 basis for the two-year and six-month term. The Project Manager will be based at Ohio State Newark.
