JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is seeking a dynamic, hard-working, innovative, and highly skilled professional for a new and unique opportunity of OSP Proposal Team Lead and eRA Systems Specialist (Proposal and Award Generalist 4). This position will serve as the Team Lead for the OSP Proposal Team, which provides services to the research administration units within Colleges that are experiencing a high volume of proposal submissions, or those with acute workforce needs. This position also supports units without a Pre-award Authorized Organizational Representative. The individual in this position will report directly to the Associate Director of the Proposal, Sub-awards and Awards Team. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: Review and assignment of incoming requests for proposal assistance, managing and supervising a team of proposal and award generalists (Level 3 and 4) Provide training and mentoring to pre-award coordinators within OSP, coordinate workloads, review, analyze, and submit complex proposals for contracts and grants to various federal, state, local agencies and private corporations and foundations. Perform comprehensive reviews of various electronic research administration (eRA) systems, responding to requests, troubleshooting problems, retrieval and electronic acceptance of awards, and various report submissions. Be a member of the Office of Sponsored Programs eRA Systems Committee and meet regularly with a team to discuss new system challenges, develop and maintain processes and procedures, and review webpage content. Exceptional customer service is a must as the liaison between the OSP Proposal Team and the research administration units within the Colleges, sponsors, and faculty. The Office of Sponsored Programs is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone. Typical Education and Experience Requirements: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher and 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Preferred Education, Experience, or Certifications: Experience with electronic proposal submission sites, Strategic Information Management System (SIMS), SIMS Budgets, SIMBA (Penn State's financial system), Excel, Word, and Adobe preferred. Experience in financial aspects of research administration is helpful but not required. This position requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of diverse responsibilities. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required. Capability to work both independently and as a team member, ability to multi-task and respond professionally in challenging situations is essential. Supervision experience preferred. Graduate of Penn State ACOR Certification and Education Series (ACES) preferred. Qualification for and maintenance of delegated signature authority is vital to this position.
