Schedule: Monday - Friday (9:00am - 5:30pm) some evenings/weekends may be required
SUMMARY
Sojourn’s mission is to provide, shelter and support services to adult and child victims of domestic violence; prevent violence through non-dominant child-rearing and the re-envisioning of gender stereotypes using a philosophy of nonviolence and individual empowerment; and work toward advancing social justice, locally and globally. Through shelter, support groups, workshops, hotline calls, children’s empowerment programming, legal services and service referrals, Sojourn brings safety, connection and hope to individuals and families. Sojourn also works to educate the broader community and advance public policy that affirms the rights of oppressed populations. The Program Coordinator will honor and support the empowerment philosophy of Sojourn and work within the standards and ethics of The People Concern. Under supervision of the Shelter Manager, the Program Coordinator will provide services in keeping with The People Concern’s non-violent, trauma-informed care, harm reduction philosophies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing direct services to clients:
- Conduct case managers and counselor advocate duties as necessary and appropriate
- Provide hotline coverage – one shift per week as necessary
- Administrative and Data
- Maintain and update shelter operations documents, policies and procedures, and manuals;
- Track and submit agency data for contracts and grants on monthly, quarterly or annual basis; assist Managers and Director to analyze, document and report services provided by staff
- In conjunction with shelter management, audit and conduct Quality Assurance review of client files (per funding allocation, confidentiality, and other agency policies):
- Assist Shelter Managers in coordinating 24/7 scheduling for both shelters with management approval as needed; assist in coordinating the hotline shelter as necessary
- Assist in ensuring adequate documentation is maintained including:
- Intake paperwork
- Exit paperwork
- Release of Information
- Referrals
- Case notes
- Supportive documentation
- Assist in maintaining comprehensive shift change log and other shelter records
- Assist management in maintaining disaster preparedness supplies and protocols and scheduling and administering drills;
- Assist in purchasing supplies, materials, furniture, and program supplies as needed
- Coordinate with donors and the community for shelter-based donations and their safe storage, including coordinating food pantry pick-ups,
- Responsible for safe storage and ethical use of all purchased materials; and developing and maintaining an inventory system for all supplies, including PPE
- Training & Meetings:
- Assist in developing curricula and training staff on their roles as case managers and advocates;
- Incident Reports and following reporting protocols
- Disaster & Emergency preparedness
- Attend networking, partnership-building, and training events as assigned
- Foster collaboration with outside agencies or programs to support Sojourn’s work
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree preferred and/or 3 years of relevant experience within a social services nonprofit working with marginalized populations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; must maintain a policy of consistent and ethical communication.
- Must have strong computer skills including strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Agree to honor and support the empowerment philosophy of Sojourn and work within the standards and ethics of The People Concern and Sojourn
- Perform and support client-centered, trauma-informed services
- Driving is an essential function of the position. The Program Coordinator must have valid CA driver license and must have own vehicle, and have the state-mandated minimum required auto insurance.
