Job Description:
Our company is searching for an experienced and talented Engineering Manager. This role is instrumental in delivering quality service to our customers in both the B2B and B2C sectors. The Pond Guy is spread over several buildings consisting of over 200,000 sq ft. The Pond Guy and its family of brands consist of 6k SKU's, including manufactured and distributed products. The warehouse ships 150k orders annually through Truckload, LTL, small pack, and international orders. There is a family dynamic at TPG, Inc. that extends to the customer as we strive to give them the highest quality service possible.
Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.
- Manages engineering and R&D activities by scheduling, planning, monitoring the progress of projects, preparing reports, performing inspections of work progress, and documenting successes and failures
- Supervises, coaches, trains and develops all engineering and R&D staff
- Provide project definition, set clear objectives, expectations, specifications, establish timelines, solicit and secure required resources, execute project plan and publish monthly updates
- Prepare and present project reviews and updates for upper management
- Establish SOW and project plans with team, internal or external
- Establish a cadence for project progress reviews and lead the team through issues utilizing effective problem-solving techniques
- Contribute and participate in product trials and carry out feasibility studies
- Identify product validation requirements and lead the team through the steps
- Works with all departments to receive feedback on products and provide Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
- Support the launch team in the APQP process and launch activities
- Responsible for the development of the division operating budget and major Capital Expenditures, attend and participate in the budget review; develops and maintains engineering and R&D budgets and costs
- Develops strategic plans for the engineering and R&D division
- Provides assistance as needed to Production, Materials and Quality regarding design or manufacturing performance issues
- Performs quarterly and annual reviews of engineering and R&D staff

Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Product R&D, Technical functions or manufacturing
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a leadership position
- Ability to work with customers, engineers, designers
- Strong technical aptitude, demonstrated innovation skills
- Project management skills are an asset
- Experience in successfully managing budgets, timelines.
- Basic math skills including algebra, geometry and trigonometry
- Knowledge of common terms and techniques
- Familiarity with injection molding processes and mold design a plus
- Bachelor's degree with a good understanding of material science, product development, product engineering in manufacturing systems
This position requires manual dexterity for working with small components, ability to complete repetitive motions for long periods of time, bending, continual lifting, lowering and carrying packages that typically weigh 25 - 50 lbs. and managing packages up to 150 lbs as well as standing/stooping for long periods of time.
Our Engineering Manager position will require extensive use of a computer system. This position involves a high degree of interaction with engineers and other departments (Purchasing, Production, Customer Service, etc). Organization, follow up and communication skills are important factors in daily administration of this position.
We need an Engineering Manager that has a positive attitude and the words "can't" and "impossible" are not a part of your vocabulary. We need someone who is resourceful and ready to get things done.
Availability
You must be available to work between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday – Friday with the occasional Saturday.
