The Department of Business Services at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for an Electronic Access Control System Programmer. The successful candidate will be expected to support the University one-card system, CBORD CS Gold, which provides electronic access control, ID card production, meal plan and other services to campus cardholders. The Electronic Access Control System Programmer will report to the Business Services Project Manager. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA and is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Primary Responsibilities: Using vendor supplied software to program and configure card readers and associated controls, with an emphasis on maintenance and support of electronic access controls. Creating and managing tiered access control assignments. Providing local computing support to office staff (installing software, troubleshooting Windows PCs, etc.) Performing advanced troubleshooting of electronic access controls and door hardware and providing support and training to other controls technicians. Sharing rotating night/weekend on-call duties with technical staff, monitoring the card system for proper operation and responding to issues as they arise. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or Equivalent Four years of experience commissioning, troubleshooting, programming, and installing electronic control systems. Recognized access control or security industry certification or successful completion of two or more access control or security vendor development courses or ability to obtain certification or complete required training within the probationary period. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline. Experience as an electronic access control or electronic security technician is preferred. Compensation: The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $65,000 - $82,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits.
