What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe position at The Retina Partners?
We are a busy Retina Practice with fantastic employee benefits looking for an experienced Ophthalmology Scribe to join our team full time. We are looking for someone who will join us long term, loves working with patients and has experience in a fast-paced medical practice. Must have attention to detail, great customer service, a drive to succeed, and work excellent in a team environment.
The Ophthalmology Scribe duties will include entering medical data quickly and accurately while patients are being examined; preparing electronic charts of upcoming new and established patients by entering referring and other treating doctor contact information, dates and types of previous surgeries, and known diagnoses from supplied medical records; assisting with medical procedures, including numbing and washing out the eyes. The Medical Scribe will be responsible for keeping the physician moving in the office. The scribe will be expected to provide some patient education and assist in scheduling surgeries and providing information about post-op care. The scribe will need to be familiar or become familiar with both scheduling (AdvancedMD) and EMR (Nextech/MDI) software as well as various supply ordering websites. The scribe will complete prescription refills as well as track inventory and order medications for procedures and various office medical supplies as needed.
The scribe will learn and enter diagnostic codes into the medical record for billing and may sign patients up for payment assistant programs.
Requirements:
- Medical/Ophthalmology experience (retina highly preferred)
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing (OCT, Fundus, Microperimetry, Angiography, photography) preferred
- Highly organized & able to multi-task, positive attitude, excellent customer service and great team-player a must
- Basic usage of Electronic Medical Records system
- Experience as a medical scribe, preferably in ophthalmology, with high attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology
- As per law, all employees must be vaccinated against Covid-19 and present documentation at the start of employment..
