SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
Join the crew! The Rhodes School (TRS) is the only magnet Charter in Houston educating students through music and art. We are seeking dependable Substitute Teachers for our District. These individuals must be well-organized and assist with creating a calm learning environment for TRS students. TRS Substitutes assume the same duties and responsibilities as our teachers and provide meaningful instruction for students in grades Pre-K – 8th.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival and departure of the school.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.
- Takes attendance in accordance with the school's procedures.
- Teaches the lesson plan as outlined by the absent teacher.
- Ensures that the students are never left unattended throughout the day.
- Performs all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the building principal.
- Meets and instructs assigned class at the designated times.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Knows the emergency evacuation route for the classroom assigned.
- Knows procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma with some college hours required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
