Instructional Designer with Banking/Risk Management Expertise

The Instructional Designer is responsible for planning, designing and developing engaging learning experiences that focus on the maximization of learning outcomes. The individual will help to build and revise a rich library of off-the-shelf, instructor-led and online training products, developed for credit and risk professionals in banking and financial services.  The Instructional Designer works in close collaboration with external subject matter experts and internal teams and must be adept at asserting their opinions in the best interests of the final learning product.

Job Accountabilities 

1. Identify instructional strategies that align with instructional goals and anticipated learning outcomes
2. Design end-to-end learning solutions such as and not limited to instructor-led, e-learning, and virtual, that incorporate best practices in adult learning theory and cognitive science
3. Conduct industry research and interviews with subject matter experts and translate findings into effective learning experiences
4. Apply appropriate interaction design and interactive learning principles
5. Accommodate social, cultural, political, and other individual factors that may influence learning
6. Integrate existing instructional materials into the design
7. Coordinates the review, revision, editorial, and document production process
8. Communicate with team members on all phases of the project in order to prepare for an orderly product launch
9. Maintain project documentation and digital course files
10. Function as staff resource for assigned courses 
11. Observe instructor-led classes for the purposes of assessing program effectiveness and evaluating instructor performance
12. Evaluate course feedback, recommend changes, and oversee implementation of necessary changes in program or materials
13. Ensure courses and their development adhere to national or international licensing bodies
14. Responsible to administer and abide by all of RMA’s information technology policies and procedures
15. Perform other duties as assigned

Job Competencies 

Job Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) with a Certificate or degree/Masters degree in Instructional Design or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience as an instructional designer with experience in banking and ideally risk management topics
• In-depth knowledge of current and emerging adult learning theory and how it is put into practice in corporate learning
• Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency in PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications in a Windows environment, plus other common design-related programs like Articulate Storyline, InDesign, InCopy, Camtasia, Snagit, and the like
• Strong project management skills with the ability to multi-task and advance activities across multiple concurrent work streams
• Prefer experience with e-learning frameworks such as Adaptive Learning, ADDIE, SAM, or other learning development approaches as well as experience in designing, developing, and testing eLearning content to serve as backup for e-learning team
• Experience designing / developing content in a Commercial Banking environment alongside Subject Matter Experts in the field
• Has basic familiarity with industry structure and lingo sufficient to advance projects forward at a sufficient pace
• Possess a basic level of skill in implementing Quality Assurance into the products created
• Ability to challenge and make a case for different or better ways to approaching training
