Job Title

Junior Specialist, Actuarial

Location

Hybrid (Manchester, NH)

Summary

Provides Actuarial support as directed to various projects and strategic issues including, but not limited to, Reserve liability projections, Regulatory reporting, Business Operational reporting, Financial reporting and controls, and Acquisition efforts.  Helps develop management information based on actuarial and financial analyses for use in multiple internal and external processes.

Essential Functions

  • Work on multiple assignments under supervision in support of department goals with manager or supervisor direction
  • Assist in basic-level research to selected business problems
  • Supports external, internal and management teams to meet business needs and corporate goals.
  • Participate in the evaluation of business requirements including key company initiatives
  • Participate in the projection of estimated reserve liability for Acquisitions, including Captives.  Communicate with Business Acquisition team and Actuarial management as to data needs and conclusions, findings, and further steps.
  • Demonstrates open minded and collaborative approach to creating innovative technical solutions

 

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated technical excellence in Microsoft Office 2013 (especially Excel), SQL, VBA, and database query tools
  • Basic understanding of actuarial job function and how to apply skills to needs of department and other related cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with agile methodologies and cross-functional teams

Experience

0-2 years of insurance experience required.  Ability to think through solutions to presented problems

Required Education

BS/BA degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or any other related or relevant field.

Preferred Education or Certification

0-3 actuarial exams

This position operates in a professional, collaborative environment and must have the ability to timely produce thorough, accurate work with many competing demands, deadlines, and distractions.  The position uses standard equipment such as phones, computers, copiers/printers, and filing cabinets.  Noise level is moderate.
