Overview:
The Paralegal must balance legal and business imperatives in assisting with a broad variety of matters that encompass leasing, property management, development, land use, litigation, acquisitions and dispositions, loan arrangements, contracts, and employment issues in connection with a large portfolio of office, industrial, hospitality, retail and senior living assets. The role involves collaboration with members of RMR’s legal group and with many of the company’s other internal teams, including asset management, property management, accounting and human resources.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with documentation of a variety of matters related to business operations, management, and real estate transactions.
- Maintain a centralized records database for forms, templates, and contracts.
- Manage intake of document review requests and track the status of reviews.
- Undertake independent project-based work for legal team members.
- Maintain records and internal trackers for property and litigation related information and documents.
- Assist with commercial loan projects and diligence.
- Assist with tenant defaults, disputes and related litigation matters.
- Collaborate on initiatives to improve organization and efficiency in all phases of the contract review and negotiation process.
- Such other activities that may arise and that may be necessary or helpful in managing the company’s legal matters.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.).
- Minimum of three to five years’ experience in a law firm or in-house law department setting, or comparable government organization.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently and to produce a high-quality work product.
- Ability to thrive in a high energy, fast paced environment.
- Sound judgment, common sense and excellent follow-through skills.
