Job Summary:
Provides oversight and organization of food distribution programs. Oversees and participates in the distribution of items for the food pantry; performs data entry and other administrative or social services support; drives Salvation Army vehicle to pick up food donations and other miscellaneous items as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to plan and coordinate the distribution of food and commodities to the public.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while maintaining established policies and procedures.
Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and one year of experience working in a social or public service environment, with experience assisting the public preferred,, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid State Driver’s License required
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis.
Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light to moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently. Work is usually performed in a normal food pantry environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, with the exception of driving conditions.
