The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Seasonal Van Driver, for the MS Gulf Coast Area Command, located in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Job Summary: Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities; makes pick-ups and deliveries
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of acceptable driving techniques and practices. Knowledge of safety precautions associated with transporting passengers. Ability to drive a passenger vehicle ensuring the safety of passengers and protection of the vehicle. Ability to read and follow maps. Ability to gauge time needed to arrive at destination.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two years of experience operating an automotive vehicle, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License and eligible driver status under TSA Driver Program.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips. Ability to spend the night away from home due to extended trips.
Work involves driving a van or other vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
