Scion is seeking a talented Investments Analyst to join us in executing our vision. This position will focus on using their analytical talents to provide support to the Capital and Investments team as Scion looks to build the nation’s highest quality student housing portfolio. This position will primarily focus on delivering financial modeling, research, presentations, and various analyses with the utmost integrity and timeliness to support investment initiatives from acquisition to optimization to disposition.
The Investments Analyst values and fosters strong cross departmental working relationships. This role demands excellent communication skills, agility, well-honed analytical and problem-solving skills and takes no half measures. Your Responsibilities
- Prepare financial models to analyze prospective real estate acquisition opportunities under various investment structures and sensitivities.
- Gather and evaluate economic, demographic, industry specific, and macro fundamental data to aid senior management in effective business decisions.
- Provide corporate support to Asset Management, Investment Management, and Revenue Management team members to assess monthly performance and determine key trends.
- Collaborate with other Capital and Investments team verticals (Revenue Management, Capital Markets, Business Intelligence) to analytically support various investment optimizing initiatives.
- Leverage presentation software, data visualization techniques, and communication skills to generate external and internal reports to drive investment analysis.
- Conduct transaction due diligence by collecting, reviewing, and summarizing various property diligence reports, leases, property financial information, and other due diligence documents.
- Interact with Asset Management and Property Operations to ensure recently acquired communities are ready to transition to Scion ownership and management.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or similar STEM programs with 1-2 years of professional experience.
- Advanced financial modeling skills; High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills; Proficiency in VBA is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with commercial real estate fundamentals and investment principles is a plus.
- Successfully balances multiple, complex projects, prioritizes effectively and meets deadlines.
- Infrequent travel may be required occasionally (5-10% in a year).
Operational Details
- Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
- Working hours consist of daytime business hours, requiring additional non-traditional hours during peak times.
