The Digital Innovation Delivery Manager is responsible for providing technical delivery leadership and ownership of the "Act" (i.e. Delivery) phase of the "Monitor, Plan, Act" 3-phase process in the Digital Innovation Accelerator. The role is responsible for managing internal and external implementation teams delivering Digital Innovation Accelerator Proof-of-Concepts (POC) and supporting services. This is considered an experienced technical product and platform delivery leadership position.
This role individually, with a team, and through external partner collaborations manages and runs implementation activities for all POC projects. This position requires extensive experience in digital application development platforms, enterprise application development and integration, enterprise data structure, and cloud native technologies. Critical to the role is expertise in defining and redefining flexible delivery teams based on changing POC projects and requirements. Sourcing internal organization delivery teams through "dotted-line" resource sharing as well as sourcing external delivery partners.
This role provides innovation Thought Leadership, in collaboration with Digital Innovation Accelerator leadership and team. Organizational education on new digital technology capabilities with peers in Digital Technology product and platform teams is a key mentoring and leadership requirement of this role.
Essential Functions
Technical Planning
* Build and utilize internal network of relationships to identify potential collaborations with product and platform teams to assist in delivery of POC
* Grow and maintain external delivery partner network to assist in POC delivery that extend beyond current internal delivery capabilities
* During POC opportunity review, identify technical requirements of POC
* Manage and collaborate with delivery team to provide technical scope definition, resource requirements, skills, and timeline estimates for POC opportunities
* Lead technical ideation for use case development opportunities
* Provide technology budget needs for annual budgeting process
POC Delivery Management
* Lead the technical development and delivery of POCs
* Lead design architecture components efforts for development projects
* Define and write Statement-of-Work (SOW) for delivery team based on POC scope
* Assess internal development opportunity, go/no-go technology capability
* Manage internal team of delivery
* Manage external delivery team
* Work closely with functional departments and project sponsors to make sure technology capabilities for POCs meet business objectives
POC Post-Delivery
* In collaboration with Digital Innovation Research Manager, ensure that POC efforts have implemented new digital technologies and capabilities
* In collaboration with Digital Innovation Research Manager, validate post-POC delivery with the alignment of the POC technology capability to the original proposed research hypothesis statements and opportunity assessment
* In collaboration with Digital Innovation Research Manager, assess cost and trade-off of the introduction of new technology capability within the organizations existing internal systems
Operational Management
* Maintain broad knowledge of emerging technology trends, equipment, and systems
* Maintain broad knowledge of organization technology capabilities and identify POC opportunities
* Collaborate with accelerator Monitor and Research team to craft on-going thought leadership, education, and knowledge sharing communications and activities
* Collaborate across Digital Technology product and platform teams to provide Digital Innovation Accelerator access to development environment(s) of existing solutions or creating new environments where POCs or prototypes can be built
* Act as technical Subject Matter Expert in discovery and resolution of POC development problems
* Act as technical Subject Matter Expert on accelerator process and framework improvements
* Collaborate with leadership on POC opportunity identification, intake, and prioritization efforts
* Define and execute "technology transfer" process following POC execution to ensure successful hand-off of POC solution components to enterprise delivery team for implementation at scale
* Some travel as required (local, regional, domestic)
* Work outside the standard office 7.5 hour workday as required
Team Management
* Manage delivery team objectives, staffing, performance, resource management, and strategic direction of technical resources supporting accelerator and POC initiatives
* Influence delivery team career development plans including training, skills assessment, career planning, and goal planning
* Manage, develop, and mentor delivery team and technical resources toward building of strong team camaraderie regardless direct or dotted-line reporting structure
* Lead effort to promote an ethical and honest environment with professional respect to others
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
* Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business).
* Master's Degree preferred
Knowledge & Experience
* 12 years of IT or Digital experience
* 6 years of team management experience
* 8 years creating foundational digital technology solutions, products, and enterprise stacks
* 8 years' experience in Software Development Lifecycle, new product design and development, or innovation design and development
* Strong experience in technical solution research, systems integration, and technical architecture
* Strong knowledge of cloud native technologies and architectures and cloud/hybrid development
* Experience with public cloud, APIs, microservices, event-driven design
* Experience collaborating with business and product owners to formulate business requirements
* Proven track record of driving complex estimates that take one or more technical requirements into account and effectively communicating risks and dependencies to stakeholders
* Understanding and experience in data analytics competencies
* Understanding and experience in agile principles, methodologies, and frameworks
* Fundamental experience generating activity status, metrics reports, and KPIs
* Management experience with budget planning and preparation, creating and delivering performance appraisals, developing objectives and timelines to accomplish goals,
* Management experience with internal and external teams; direct report and dotted-line reporting
* Management experience with internal remote/hybrid teams
* Management experience with external solution partner and vendor teams
