Position Summary
Plans, coordinates and provides total nursing care for patients and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members. Scope of work may be modified by state specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Drives the continuous quality improvement initiatives of the nursing function by building cooperation within their team and across team lines

2. Initiates and leads team in development of individualized nursing care plans

3. Assesses and documents the customer's condition and nursing needs

4. Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders

5. Assigns nursing care to team members in accordance with the resident's needs and the person's capabilities and qualifications

6. Supervises, directs and evaluates UMs, LNs, CNAs and UCs

7. Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents that treatment as required by PureHealth, and local, state and federal rules and regulations

8. Participates in orientation, training and in-servicing of team members

9. Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act

10. Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner

11. Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding customers

12. Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments

13. Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in customers

14. Interviews applicants and recommends hires. Participates in counseling, disciplinary action and termination of staff, to extent permitted by state practice act

15. Supervises team, which includes scheduling and directing the nursing staff to extent permitted by state practice act

16. Attends and participates in in-service training.

Work Environment
This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility’s no-smoking policy.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required.

HIPAA
Team members are required to adhere to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Team member are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.

Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO.

2. Analytical abilities necessary in order to evaluate delivery of care systems and nursing results; respond to deficiencies by identifying and implementing appropriate corrective action; develop and administer sound policies, procedures and budgets; and organize and oversee work of subordinates

3. Skilled in directing and motivating nursing team members

4. Knowledge of training techniques for clinical team members

7. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization

8. Proficient computer and Microsoft Application skills. Must have an ability to learn new systems

9. Ability to work with a culturally diverse resident and employee population

10. Must have positive communication skills and demonstrated adequate maturity and patience

11. Proficient in the English language. Excellent communication (verbal and written), customer service and interpersonal skills

12. Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail, as well as strong leadership skills

13. Must be able to successfully prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and analyze situations to make sound decisions based on available data

14. Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure

15. Self-directing with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision

Required Education/Experience
· High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Graduate of accredited School of Nursing

· A minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing experience

· A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a nursing leadership role

Required Licenses/Certifications
· Valid State LPN/RN License

· Valid CPR Certification

Preferred Education/Experience
· College/University Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Business or other related field

· A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive nursing experience

· A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a nursing leadership role
