The headquarters for this position is located in Tallahassee.


This position serves as analytic staff in the Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE) Intelligence and Analysis Section (IAS) under the supervision of the Crime Intelligence Analyst Supervisor (CIAS).


Crime Intelligence Analyst I Duties:


Coordinate and collaborate with OALE commanders, supervisors, agents, staff and partners as appropriate to support tactical, operational and strategic actions on behalf of and in support of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) statutory responsibilities.


Research and analyze raw data, apply critical thinking and logic skills to triage received products, develop sound conclusions, recommendations, and actionable intelligence to be presented via information and analytic products. This process will use established intelligence cycle components to plan, collect, process, analyze, disseminate, and reevaluate data to determine the structure and scope of criminal operations, businesses, and persons. Analysis will seek to identify and assess information and developed intelligence to determine the existence of series, trends, and associate linkages. Duties to support these responsibilities will include:


  • Respond to requests for analytical assistance and triage information that requires specialty handling from other law enforcement agencies, fusion centers, and domestic security partners.
  • Collect, review, evaluate, and analyze available data, and intelligence resources to support investigations, responses to Requests for Information (RFI), and the development of analytic products using critical thinking skills and well-reasoned decision-making strategies.
  • Prepare written or oral briefings, presentations, and educational products using charts, graphs, and analytic resources to develop hypotheses and assess factors such as, but not limited to the validity, and reliability of sources for collected data, and developed intelligence.
  • Utilize general awareness and professional knowledge of international, national, regional, and state domestic security postures to assess the potential implications of identified threats, vulnerabilities and knowledge gaps.
  • Maintain general awareness of terrorist and transnational organizational structures, as well as security threat groups, their strategies, activities, and geographic areas of activity to provide insight to leadership as appropriate.
  • Provide critical review of intelligence, academic, and training products to identify threats, vulnerabilities, and potential implications for the food and agricultural critical infrastructure sector, agency, or personnel.
  • Testify before grand juries and criminal trials on information developed during investigations and criminal cases when required or ordered to do so.
  • Utilize electronic, technical and support systems equipment; operate computers using standard industry software, as well as specialty analytic and investigative resources to complete duties as assigned. Use standard office equipment to perform all duties as assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of agency priority topics and standing information needs (SINS) regarding issues that may impact food, agriculture, and consumer services in Florida.
  • Develop new and enhance existing organizational relationships in support of OALE and IAS goals.
  • Provide support to the Florida Fusion Center in the capacity of embedded task force member with responsibilities consistent with FDACS’ legislatively mandated roles and/or alternate Interagency Fusion Liaison (IFL).

Other duties will include:


  • Seek career development opportunities and attend agency mandated and job-related training relevant to the position.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, experience at a law enforcement agency, which employs law enforcement officers (as defined by 943.10 Fla. Stat.), 911 emergency telecommunications as an operator/officer/dispatcher, farm, ranch, or agricultural management along with a high school diploma can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Vocational/technical training in law enforcement can substitute for the required education at the rate of 720 classroom hours per year of required college education. An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals four (4) years can substitute for the above requirements.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Preference will be given to individuals that possess:


  • A Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) certification.

Selection Process: The Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE) selection process takes approximately three to four months to complete. Steps to complete the selection process include, but are not limited to:


  • A completed State of Florida Employment Application.
  • A completed Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement Civilian Supplemental Application.
  • Written work sample following the Oral Interview.
  • Background Investigation.
  • Fingerprinting.
  • Drug Screening.

Salary - $45,000.02 - $50,024.00
