OPEN ATTORNEY POSITION FOR THE OFFICE OF CRIMINAL CONFLICT AND CIVIL REGIONAL COUNSEL IN LEE (COUNTY) FLORIDA.


THIS APPLICANT MUST HAVE CURRENT ADMISSION TO THE FLORIDA BAR.


The primary responsibility of assistant regional counsel is to provide highly efficient and professional representation to our clients.


Duties include, but are not limited to:


a) Accepting, researching, and preparing each case efficiently and expeditiously;


b) Advising and counseling each client regarding plea offers, client’s rights and options, strategies, sentencing, appellate rights, etc.;


c) Establishing and maintaining a professional relationship with each client, family, witness, and court personnel;


d) Maintaining open lines of communications with clients and their families, witnesses, and court personnel;


e) Involving investigators, interns and other support staff appropriately;


f) Seeking assistance from experts appropriate to the case;


g) Demonstrating maturity and a professional demeanor at all times;


h) Exercising sound judgment to achieve desired results;


I) Handling emergency assignments when needed;


j) Attending and participating in training seminars, division meetings, and staffing sessions;


k) Abide by all Regional Counsel policies and procedures outlined in manual including but not limited to attendance, punctuality and professional dress code.


l) Performing other related work as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be member in Good Standing of the Florida Bar and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to:

Plan and prepare reports, correspondence, and charts in a variety of formats

Use personal computer and general office equipment

Manage multiple assignments simultaneously including long- and short-range projects Be flexible in work assignments and processes based upon need

Travel to various locations throughout the circuit for assignments and training

Effectively utilize Microsoft Word and Outlook


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Juris Doctorate


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, legal documents and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and transcripts.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.


REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to evaluate problems, isolate key issues, research and develop alternative solutions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be mobile, speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee maybe required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Valid Florida Driver’s license; Valid Florida Bar license
