Position Summary & Responsibilities
If you are a self-starter seeking a position that allows you the freedom to work independently and manage your own caseload, all while in a supportive team environment, look no further! The Office of Appeals is looking for professionals to fill the role of Appeals Referee. As a Referee, you are a Hearing Officer and will hold hearings, issue decisions regarding Unemployment Insurance appeals under the Kansas Employment Security Law.
Our Appeals Referee's are responsible for managing their own caseloads. Hearings and written decisions are governed by applicable timeliness and quality standards set forth by the United States Department of Labor as well as requirements of Kansas Law and Regulations, relevant case law, and agency policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience as a legal assistant, paralegal or attorney.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of experience in law, insurance, insurance claims settlement, employment claims settlement, or unemployment claims. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
