What are the responsibilities and job description for the Center Assistant Director position at The Step by Step School?
The center's Assistant Director coordinates with the center Director providing daily oversight for all programs within the center. This includes assisting with compliance and program regulation, accreditation, licensing, staffing and professional development, curriculum, quality control, budgeting, and parent relations. The Assistant Director plays a key administrative role within the childcare department, including managing and approving staff schedules and time off; managing staff training, etc. The Childcare Assistant Director provides program oversight for the Childcare Director when he or she is not available.
Performance Standards:
- Assist Director by providing day-to-day leadership and contribute to the healthy management of the center programs.
- Responsible for planning, implementing, approving staff schedules and timecards.
- Work with Director and Coordinators to hire, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
- Administrator charged with oversight of Family Service staff ensuring maintenance of accurate children’s records and parent communications, including supervision of systems for registering children/billing families, conducting outreach, etc.
- Manage recordkeeping associated with staff development and training requirements.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences that will enhance your professional development.
- Maintain certification of self and staff in accordance with licensing, Accreditation, school readiness, and other local or state governing agencies.
- Abide by the written policies, including the Positive Guidance and Mandated Reporter Policy, for all Childcare programs.
Qualifications Required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field
- A minimum of 3 years of previous experience in an accredited childcare program required.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, childcare licensing, accreditation, and school readiness standards preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
