POSITION TITLE: Medication Assistance Supervising (MAS) Nurse
DESCRIPTION: The MAS Nurse is a professional position responsible for delegating medication administration responsibilities to MAC workers, providing health assessment of program participants, and providing support to other nursing staff through on-call duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Completion of an accredited RN nursing curriculum with current license for the state of Alabama. Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s license and be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must be able to successfully complete the MAS Nurse certification course provided by the Alabama Department of Mental Health; able to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of the team; able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with supervisor, colleagues, other medical professionals and individuals in services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs duties in accordance with DMH and agency policies and procedures
- Corresponds with others in a professional, courteous and prompt manner.
- Ensures all medical needs of individuals in care are provided in accordance with standard medical practice.
- Administers skilled nursing and occupational health procedures as required.
- Serves in an on-call capacity for medical emergencies & required consultation.
- Completes all duties in a prompt, thorough and efficient manner.
- Maintains licensure in the State of Alabama as required by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Completion of records as required by the agency.
- Performs other duties as required by agency.
