What are the responsibilities and job description for the Candy Store Associate position at The Sugar Shack?
The ideal candidate will be reliable, confident, and willing to learn quickly. We have set guidelines for how our store is to run and we expect these guidelines to be followed. You will need to be flexible in your job duties. You will be expected to be ready to work in customer service, food handling, crew training, and lots of cleaning. Flexibility in your schedule is crucial in this job. Most of your shifts are day hours 11am-7pm but you have to be ready to work a different shift depending on what the store needs. This job will also require you to think on your feet about what the situation needs. If you can handle the problem at hand then we expect you to be able to resolve the issue.
We will train but you have to have the desire to learn. Be able to be creative in making merchandise displays and to keep the store looking fresh.
This position is a Full-Time position Monday- Saturday. Days/Evenings/Weekends are a must. Must complete Serv-Safe training within 4 months of hire, it is a plus if you already have Serv-Safe Certification.
The position is eligible to receive tips.
Hourly while training: $10/ hr
Salary once fully trained (60 days): $10.25 - $12 (DOE) (Plus Tips)
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Must be able to prepare cotton candy from the machine, make fudge from recipe cards, and make chocolate-dipped treats (strawberries, Oreos, chips, etc).
- Must be able to bake simple desserts (Cookies, Brownies)
- Physical ability to carry out the essential functions of the job, including packing candy, stocking shelves, ringing sales, standing or walking the entire shift, and frequent lifting up to 25 pounds
- Retail Associate experience (1 year minimum)
- Must pass Background Check
- Must pass evaluation training period of 60 days
Performance and Duties:
- Must be able to greet customers and provide a high level of customer service during checkout, and while resolving complaints.
- Drives brand loyalty by adopting an experiential selling environment, by setting the theater in a fun and engaging way.
- Evaluates daily operations on an ongoing basis and makes recommendations/initiates action to enhance productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
- Will be responsible for monitoring candy store inventory, and restocking.
- Must be prepared and able to fill in for shifts when employees call out.
- Will be part of the Cleanup Crew, cleaning retail area and fixtures as needed.
- Will be required to open and close the store as required.
- Will be required to operate the POS system to checkout customers.
- Will ensure all operational standards are maintained.
