The Summit Area YMCA (SAY) is seeking Member Service superhero to take our customer service efforts to the next level. The Member Services Representative delivers exceptional customer service to inquiring members, guests, and program participants, helps create a friendly and welcoming environment by greeting all who enter the Y, responds to general questions and assists with requests for assistance with membership changes or transactions, and contributes to membership sales by giving tours, promoting memberships, providing information about programs, events and more.

Salary & Benefits:
The salary for this position starts at $16.50/ hour, and is based on experience. Member Service staff are required to be scheduled for at least 2 shifts per week. These two shifts must include one weekend shift but may include 2 weekend shifts if needed and desired. The current available shifts include weekdays (9:00am - 2:00pm), Weeknights 4:30pm - 9:30pm and weekends 12:00pm-7:00pm. The Summit Area YMCA offers generous employee benefits. Essential Functions:
- Monitors, screens, checks-in and documents entrance of all members and visitors
- Provides excellent customer service to members, program participants, and guests in person and on the phone, which contributes to membership sales, satisfaction, and retention
- Responsible for opening and/or closing the facility safely
- Conducts facility tours, processes membership accounts, answer questions related to membership, programs, events, etc.
- Builds relationships with members; promotes the member’s connection with the YMCA via programs, events, and other members
- Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues
- Conducts daily front desk operations as directed while following all YMCA policies
- Executes registration process and transactions for YMCA programs accurately
- Supports all building staff in emergency
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the membership desk and lobby areas
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to handle financial transactions
- Previous customer service, hospitality, sales, or related experience
- Are 18 years or older
- Ability to work on site at both Summit and Berkeley Heights YMCA Branches
