Position Description
A CDL Driver is responsible for the operations of a low-boy, flatbed, or other sized truck to deliver heavy equipment and materials to various job sites. This position is responsible for the safe transport of all equipment/materials, loading/unloading, and securing equipment to trailers.
Responsibilities
Duties Include
Essential Functions:
- Drives truck with low-boy trailer, hauling equipment to and from garage or storage to work sites
- Positions chains, straps, and binders to secure loads during transit
- Loads and unloads equipment on low-boy trailers
- Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment
- Maintains logs and records in compliance with DOT regulations
- Maintains and checks truck, trailer, and supplies to ensure roadworthiness
- Performs minor emergency roadside repairs as needed
- Works various shifts based on the needs of the job
- Follows appropriate standard operating procedures as guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment
Secondary Duties:
- Understands and follows directions regarding job needs
- Follows all safety rules and regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Must have a strong work ethic and commitment to quality
- Valid Class A CDL and satisfactory driving record required
- Demonstrate safe and proper use of assigned equipment
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position
- Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
- Be at least 18 years of age, or 21 if CDL is required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred:
- Previous experience in construction or similar environment
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a truck driver for a low-bed hauler
