Normal Work Schedule: 4am-12:30pm, 7am-3:30pm, 3:30-midnight
Job Summary: The project team position is a very demanding and integral position within Custodial Services. Each member has to have the knowledge and training not only on the complex equipment and chemicals they handle each and every day for the team's assigned tasks, but also specialty equipment used by their team. They also must be familiar with virtually every building on campus. They are called to handle emergencies within the department for their scheduled shift and non-work hours for the other two shifts.
Additional Department Summary: The team member performs restorative, intermediate and routine maintenance on all types of soft and hard floor surfaces. The duties and responsibilities listed in the job duties do not encompass all of the tasks that this position may be assigned. The team members must have the technical skills and knowledge of the equipment, techniques and procedures needed to respond to emergencies and/or special cleaning problems in all campus buildings. The specialty cleaning issues vary due to the complexity, age and design of the campus buildings. The team member must be able to complete essential tasks in the custodian job class, and complete specialty projects in assigned time line.
Required Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years custodial service experience, preferably in an institutional setting. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to perform those items in the Job Summary and the essential functions. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to climb stairs and ladders; must be able to reach and lift arms above head; must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Must have the ability to use job-related tools, equipment, and chemical supplies. Closely observes and adheres to all safety rules and regulations as listed on product and equipment labels and as directed by management; Leaves work site clean and orderly; Insures that all tools and equipment are cleaned and materials are secured.
Must meet regular attendance requirements; Must work overtime as scheduled; Must accomplish the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner; Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Final candidate, who are not currently University of Alabama employees, must submit to and successfully pass a post offer drug test.
Preferred Qualifications: Prefer one year experience on some type of similar crew (i.e., floor team) responsible for maintaining floor (hard/soft) surfaces.
