The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine announces the immediate availability of one full-time, 12-month appointment stream (non-tenure-track) faculty position at the rank of Instructor. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with education, teaching, and professional experience. This position is an one1-year grant-funded position responsible for the development and implementation of a dental assisting apprenticeship program, with the possibility for continued program funding. A bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene and experience as a dental assistant or a related discipline and a minimum of two years of successful teaching experience in didactic, clinical, and laboratory dental hygiene and/or dental assisting courses is preferred. Consideration will also be given to Certified Dental Assistants (CDA) or Expanded Function Dental Assistants (EFDA) who have two (2) plus years of teaching experience. Teaching responsibilities will include clinical, laboratory, and didactic instruction for dental assisting apprentice students. Additional responsibilities include management of clinical rotation schedules and designated faculty assignments as identified by the project manager. The successful candidate must possess or be eligible for dental hygiene licensure and/or be certified as a dental assistant in the state of Pennsylvania. The School of Dental Medicine does require a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to the official offer of the position.
