Purpose The position will provide user support and will be responsible for answering technical questions, supporting training efforts, and assisting with HPC projects. Responsibilities We are looking for talented and inspired individuals who are passionate about the mission of TACC. The successful candidate will: Serve as a key member of TACC’s HPC Support staff, fielding technical questions from TACC’s large, diverse user community. Collaborate with High Performance Computing (HPC) colleagues to resolve user issues and improve the experience of using TACC resources. Employ software tools to understand trends and develop mitigation strategies for recurring issues. Conduct training, produce technical documentation, and otherwise contribute to outreach initiatives to improve users’ understanding of the tools and technologies available at TACC. Contribute to the research initiatives intended to advance the state of the art in HPC and related disciplines. Contribute to team efforts to coordinate and deliver projects that improve the user experience at TACC and delivery high quality services to the scientific research community. Required Qualifications Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies. Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems. Exemplary written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in diverse groups. Proven ability to provide effective customer service and support. History of working in HPC or related scientific fields. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications MS degree in science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or other discipline related to TACC’s core mission with 2 years of related experience in HPC support or training. Experience supporting users via ticketing systems. Experience with Linux and related technologies. Demonstrated ability to program in at least two of the following languages: C/C , Fortran, Python, JavaScript, SQL. Experience with programming networked applications. Experience with the Django framework. Experience building and installing software in a Linux environment. Ability to make effective use of software engineering tools and technologies (e.g., change management, debugging, testing, scripting, and profiling.) Experience providing technical training. Knowledge of principles and practices associated with parallel computing.
