Purpose The Assistant Director of Donor Stewardship will lead stewardship efforts for the Office of Enrollment Management, which includes UT’s nationally recognized Student Success Initiatives and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. This position will have a special focus on scholarship endowments and priority programs including the Texas Challenge –part of UT’s Texas Advance Commitment to support high potential low- and middle-income students, the nationally recognized student success program – University Leadership Network, and as well as special stewardship projects for OFSA. In addition, the Assistant Director will be responsible for building positive working relationships with internal stakeholders as the primary liaison to approximately 10-15 colleges, schools and units (CSUs) to ensure that 100% of all $1M donors to a given CSU have an annual stewardship plan in place. This role partners closely with diverse stakeholders including senior administrators (including Offices of the VP for Development and President), CSUs, development colleagues, the Office of Enrollment Management and students to execute assigned projects and support fundraising goals. Responsibilities Lead stewardship efforts for the Office of Enrollment Management by: Building a best-in-class stewardship program for the Office of Enrollment Management by leveraging the talented team members in Constituent Relations, Endowment Compliance, and Development Marketing & Communications with area leaders in Enrollment Management; Developing, executing and documenting best-in-class stewardship strategy, including acknowledgement protocol, print and digital stewardship, events and recognition for all Office of Enrollment Management donors and prospects with a special emphasis on Texas Challenge Scholarships; Developing, implementing and documenting robust individualized stewardship plans for high-level donors and/or prospects with an emphasis on donor recognition and internal communication; Producing and/or project managing personalized donor recognition pieces - including strategic writing and graphic design for impact reports, recognition or memory books, historical markers, special events and other special projects; Working with gift officers across campus to provide information for coordination purpose as needed about donors who support scholarships in Office of Enrollment Management and as well as other areas of campus; and Ensuring that donor recognition activities and other stewardship initiatives are planned and executed efficiently and are in compliance with university, foundation and federal regulations. Serve as the primary liaison to approximately 10-15 colleges, schools and units (CSUs) to ensure that 100% of all $1M donors to a given CSU have an annual stewardship plan in place. Meet with CSU colleagues on at least a quarterly basis to review individualized stewardship plan progress for their $1M donors. Proactively support the stewardship responsibilities of Texas Development staff by assisting them in developing, implementing and documenting individualized stewardship plans for donors to their college, school or unit. Creatively think of ways to engage donors as other Development needs arise; research and resolve internal/external questions as they relate to CSU top donor individual stewardship plans. Partner with Development and Constituent Relations colleagues on donor engagement opportunities. Work on one-off custom engagement events as needed. Provide insight and expertise on how to increase the quality and effectiveness of stewardship by keeping informed of latest ideas, developments and trends in top donor stewardship strategies through attendance at professional conferences and by collaborating with a network of professional colleagues and resources In conjunction with team, serve as leader and expertise for Texas Development community on best stewardship practices; help maintain community resources like DevConnect, Box templates, etc. Research and resolve internal and external questions as they relate to transformational donor stewardship Ensure that stewardship initiatives are planned and executed efficiently and are in compliance with university, foundation and federal regulations Perform or assist with constituent relations processes, events, communications, and activities as requested Identify methods for streamlining and enhancing efforts, particularly as they relate to constituent relations Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Two years of increasingly responsible experience as a development professional. Experience interacting with top-level clients or customers both internally and externally. Experience supporting senior administrators, faculty, and fellow gift officers. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage details of several concurrent projects. Ability to work with sensitive information with complete confidentiality. Proven project management skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Capable of working independently. Work with integrity and professionalism. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of increasingly responsible experience development. Experience working in a large-scale research university. Experience working in a technical environment. Experience with prospect management systems, e.g. VIP, Raiser's Edge, etc. Working knowledge of UT Austin’s structure, policies, procedures, and VIP database.
