Our teams provide a comprehensive array of qualified services, backed by our licensed and certified technicians, to this end, we offer opportunities for continuing education, as well as various stipends for additional trade licenses. Security sensitive; Hiring decision is contingent upon applicant clearing a security background check. Applications will be reviewed online by the hiring department. This is a swing shift position (shift could be between 02:00 PM & 02:00 AM), 40 hour work week schedule; Monday-Friday, hours to be discussed with supervisor. This position is required to occasionally work on-call. Additionally, this position is entitled to shift differential in the amount of $2,742 per year. Purpose To perform skilled and unskilled maintenance tasks in one or more craft areas as necessary to support the needs of the shop. Responsibilities Assist Journey Level Technicians with routine maintenance repairs and Preventive Maintenance work to equipment and systems. Performs maintenance duties on mechanical, plumbing, electrical and structural systems, including lubricating components, changing filters, cleaning and flushing coils, cleaning drain pans and drains, replacing belts and pulleys, checking and recording pressure, temperature, and flow readings. Prepares surfaces for painting, paints, cleans equipment and work areas. Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met. Generates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work. Keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed. Assists with organizing and cleaning tasks. Semi-skilled level repairs, maintenance and inspections on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. Driving a UT vehicle is required for this function and others. Performs duties such as changing faucets and shower heads, installing flush valve repair kits on urinals and commodes. Performs basic electrical tasks such as the replacement of bulbs and ballasts. Perform other related functions as assigned. Work is performed in accordance with normal trade practices and is inspected for conformity to standards, quality and quantity by journey-level employees or supervisor. Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4. Attends staff meetings, safety training and meetings. Required to carry University cell phone. Required Qualifications High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience in performing installation, maintenance and or repair work in a filed related to the work to be performed. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or above in a technical field. Completion of vocational trade or apprentice program in one or more journeyman trades. More than three years of experience in performing installation, maintenance and or repair work in a field related to the work to be performed. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Demonstrated customer service skills. Salary Range $36,566 depending on qualifications. Additionally, this position is entitled to shift differential in the amount of $2,742 per year. May be exposed to loud noise, high dust and allergen levels. May be required to lift up to 50lbs. Often required to twist, grasp, push, pull and bend. Operate job related equipment. May require tuberculosis screening and occasional use of a respirator. Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4. Participate in on-call program. Work Shift 40 hours a week, five 8-hour days, or possible four 10-hour days with schedule to be determined with supervisor.
