What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Manager position at The UPS Store #4820?

The Store Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of this retail location. He or she will open and close the center, manage productivity and ensure the center’s team delivers world-class customer service to all customers, monitor cost control and expenses, and provide weekly and monthly reports to the franchise owner. The Store Manager is ultimately accountable for profit/loss, continuous improvement, service delivery levels, personnel management, and business development.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED (college coursework or a degree preferred), two years of retail store operations experience, strong supervisory/managerial/leadership skills, excellent computer/internet/software knowledge, the physical ability to perform this job (lifting, bending, etc.), and knows how to listen, follow, lead, and help the franchise owner attain defined targets. He or she must have a dynamic personality and must be able to help motivate a team to optimize performance.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs personnel management, which includes recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching associates
  • Monitors, evaluates, and maximizes customer service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Communicates effectively and continuously practices good listening with customers, co-workers, vendors, and leadership
  • Operates all equipment, software, and devices in an expert fashion and is willing to teach others
  • Takes ownership of customers’ packing, shipping, and/or print problems and offers viable solutions
  • Takes action to learn all product and service offerings, alternative solutions, and industry trends
  • May open and/or close the store and perform end-of-day accounting, etc.
  • Schedules work assignments and facilitates weekly or monthly staff meetings
  • Develops and implements the store marketing program
  • Manages inventory
  • Oversees Center maintenance, including cleanliness, safety, and organization
  • Empathizes and manages demanding, impatient, and/or frustrated customers to turn a stressful event into a positive experience
  • Packages shipments for safe arrival, including assembling stock boxes, building custom boxes, and properly cushioning contents
  • Frequently multi-tasks while maintaining extreme attention to detail and high quality control
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Retail/customer service experience
  • One year of supervisory experience in logistics, retail, or other relevant industry
  • Willing to accept full accountability for Center operations
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task
  • Able to cross sell and up sell products and services
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Strong computer and internet skills
  • Prompt, reliable, and responsible
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
