Position Summary

Career Opportunity:
Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is seeking a Front Office Float who offers support in several roles, rotating day-to-day between Medical Records Tech, Medical Office Receptionist/Scheduler and Telephone Operator responsibilities at the Twain clinic in the Las Vegas, NV area.  In this position you will work in a fast paced, high volume oncology practice with some of the best physicians in their fields while providing care to patients in a successful health care organization.  

The essential functions for the Front Office Float include the following:
 
Within the Medical Records Tech role, responsibilities include:
  • Prepares charts for patient visits, which includes requesting copies of records from various providers via phone, fax and mail and ensuring all documentation is in the file.
  • Copies, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized.
  • Assists in preparing and filing all internal and external correspondence and medical reports into patients’ medical record according to filing system.
  • Pulls and delivers charts as requested by physicians, nurses and medical assistants
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
Within the Medical Office Receptionist/Scheduler role, responsibilities include:
  • Checks in patients, including collection and review of forms and filing.
  • Updates demographics and insurance information in the system.
  • Collects co-pays and balances.
  • Checks patients out after examination.
  • Schedules returning appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines and provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, instruction sheets, and other details.
  • Assists in scheduling patients for services with outside facilities.
  • Records patient cancellations and missed appointments and reschedules appointments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Within the Telephone Operator role, responsibilities include:
  • Courteously and efficiently answers all incoming calls and connects callers with the correct extension.
  • Takes and relays messages in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responds to emergency and urgent calls from patients in a timely manner. Directs callers immediately to clinical staff as necessary.
  • Performs operator functions including triaging calls; connecting and transferring calls; setting up conference calls; instructing users on telephone procedures; and reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions to the appropriate party.
  • Provides a pleasant and helpful phone contact for callers.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the switchboard.
  • Performs clerical duties as assigned to maintain workflow in the department.
The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Three years prior experience scheduling in a medical office
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Outlook, Office Word, and Excel) required
