What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infusion RN position at The US Oncology Network?
Texas Oncology is looking for a Full-time Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Tyler location.While this role will mainly support the Infusion department we will also provide training for the Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Gynecological Oncology departments This is a full-time Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.
This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience

What does the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do?
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participates in company-wide quality initiatives. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
- Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
- Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:
Level 1:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements):
- 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred.
Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements):
- Five years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology preferred.
