Trainer - Security

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Trainer – Security Training is to prepare and conduct training activities within the department.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and deliver the Security Department training programs and activities. Programs may include, but are not limited to, New Officer Training Academy, FTO Training Academy, New Shooter Training Program, Controlled Force instructor training and First Aid/CPR/AED instructor training.
• Develop new training for the department as needs arise and continually evaluate current training topics for possible changes or additions.
• Review all departmental training related documents to ensure they are completed properly and contain all necessary information.
• Perform all duties of a Security Officer when needed.
• Maintain a flexible schedule to be able to provide training as needed on all three shifts.
• Coordinate with various departmental leaders.
• Frequently meet with Field Training Officers, and other personnel, to discuss the training-related topics.
• Comply with regulatory standards, laws and requirements of requisite agencies with appropriate systems/processes.
• Safety is an essential function of this job.
• Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• 21 years of age.
• Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, organizational leadership or similar field preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver’s License, Nevada Gaming Control Board registration, Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM), any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in training security personnel is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in civilian or military law enforcement, hotel/casino security, or industrial security.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Knowledge of general first aid and CPR.
• Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
• Ability to react professionally and rationally to emergency and pressure situations.
• Ability to draft high-quality lesson plans and electronic presentations.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
• Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

• Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
