Position: Experienced Gardener

Minimum Requirements:

Proof of valid driver’s license. Must have reliable transportation to work daily. Must arrive for work on time, everyday.

Have earned a high school degree or equivalent.

Seeking a well-rounded gardener with enough experience, training, and knowledge to expertly care for plants and properly maintain garden bed spaces. Starting pay reflects candidate’s experience and skill level.

Work Conditions:

Posses the physical strength, fitness, and stamina to meet the demands of the position.

Be able to walk, stand, and crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical work tasks.

Perform work quickly and efficiently, while maintaining excellence in the quality of work performed.

Work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold.

Skills Requirements:

Position’s primary responsibility is to promote and maintain healthy, organized, and attractive flower beds through proper gardening practices and technique.

Everyday maintenance duties include:

• Hand pulling weeds
• Raking leaves and debris from flower beds
• Pruning and deadheading annual and perennial flowers
• Cutting back perennial plants and flowers in Spring and Fall
• Freshening mulch in flower beds

Demonstrate proper pruning technique when dealing with a variety of ornamental plants, flowers and shrubs.

Apply plant fertilizers, soil enhancers, and mulching products to flower beds.

Inspect and treat for garden pests and plant diseases with the application of appropriate products.

Dig and plant flowers, bulbs, and shrubs.

Assist with loading garden materials and yard waste into work trucks.

Drive light-duty work truck between job sites.

Work Habits:

Produce professional-quality work in the garden that is detailed, precise, and attractive.

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance on the job site, in customer’s yards, and in assigned work trucks.

Communicate with management, co-workers, and customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.

Work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team.

Seasonal work runs March-December. Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm work hours. No work on weekends or major holidays. Paid ½ hour lunch break.
