Summary
The Maintenance Assistant, working with the Maintenance Director, is responsible for ensuring that the community is maintained in excellent condition and is fully functional. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of serving senior adults. Reports directly to the Maintenance Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all maintenance functions inside and outside the Community.
- Responds to reported maintenance issues (work orders).
- Helps to maintain equipment in good working function.
- Helps to perform monthly, quarterly and annual inspections on equipment such as smoke alarms, courtesy check in buttons, emergency pull cords, fire fighting equipment, door entry systems.
- Helps the Maintenance Director ensure that a safe and sanitary environment is provided; makes every effort to reduce safety hazards, accidents and injuries.
- Works with the Maintenance Director concerning move ins and move outs.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work flexible hours. Must be able to be on call for maintenance issues after normal working hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
