Job Summary:
EMC Mechanical Services is searching for a Pipe Fitter Helper to join our team! The Pipe Fitter Helper is responsible for assembling and installing pipe systems, pipe supports, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. The Pipe Fitter Helper also installs pipes for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.

Job Responsibilities:
- Attaches pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures such as radiators or tanks using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
- Measures and marks pipes for cutting, threading, and welding.
- Uses specific tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, benders, and welders.
- Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications using hand and power tools.
- Inspects work sites for obstructions and ensures that holes will not cause structural weakness.
- Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, and/or other methods.
- Remains actively engaged with their assigned mechanic in order to observe and learn new skills.
- Remains open to constructive criticism as well as pursuing career development through trade school, certifications, etc.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Prior experience working as a Pipe Fitter Helper or general mechanical construction is preferred.
- Currently owns a personal set of tools required for the trade.
Job Requirements:
- Able to read and use blueprints.
- Safety and customer service oriented.
- Ability to clearly communicate with everyone on the job site including Superintendents, Foremen, Mechanics, other Tradesmen, etc.
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance.
- Organized and detail oriented with strong multi-tasking capabilities.
- Able to work irregular and extended hours as dictated by current projects.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to job sites located in the Greater Richmond Area.
- Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
