HireArt is helping the world's largest social network find a Technical Sound Designer to join the company's sound design team.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and provide creative feedback.

As an Interaction Sound Designer, you will:
  • Design sound for prototypes and new product experiences.
  • Develop sound concepts from a script or project description.
  • Write codes and use visual scripting (patches) to add sound behavior to interactive multimedia projects.
  • Use digital sound processing (DSP) to process sound for voice audio and musical applications.
  • Work alongside other professionals e.g. sound technicians/engineers, directors, composers, musicians, actors and producers.

  • Prior experience with coding and/or scripting e.g. JavaScript, C#, Python, etc. in an audio environment
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Proficient post-production skills e.g. mixing and mastering
  • Working knowledge of how sound works alongside other elements e.g. set, lighting, moving image, or an interactive virtual world
  • Ability to research and pitch your ideas to senior colleagues
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
Nice-to-have Skills:
  • Experience with game engines e.g. Unity, Unreal
  • Experience with AR design tools e.g. Spark, Snap Studio
  • Experience with audio middleware e.g. Wwise, FMOD
  • Ability to record in a studio and on location
  • Knowledge of acoustics, equipment set ups and calibration
  • Ability to mix in a variety of formats, including spatial audio
  • Video editing skills e.g. Premier Pro, Final Cut, Avid, etc.
Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be available to candidates local to the Menlo Park, CA; Los Angelos, CA; San Diego, CA; Boston, MA and Philadelphia, PA areas.
