Location/Division
The Columns and Consumables Solutions team has a global footprint, supplying chromatography consumables across the globe. We are a channel and direct business with a developing e-commerce capability. We have a large portfolio and are considered the leader in Sample Handling. We are innovating strongly in Sample Prep and have a diverse portfolio of both Liquid and Gas Chromatography Columns. Our focus over the next 5 years is in connecting with our Chromatography Equipment businesses and the Biopharma market with our portfolio of products.
The position is laboratory based at either West Palm Beach, FL or Bannockburn, IL sites; supporting the Chromatography Consumables product line.
Position Summary:
The Product Applications Specialist plays a key role for developing and producing compelling scientific and technical data to support the promotion of our sample preparation, sample handling and LC columns portfolio. Within this role you will require knowledge of how to craft, carryout and report experiments which highlight our products and workflows by using our whole portfolio of consumables. They will support our Technical, Product Management, Marketing, Research and Development and Commercial teams in achieving their goals by having knowledge of customer problems, current applications and workflows and through providing recommendations of columns and consumables to address analytical challenges.
Responsibilities:
Creation of experimental data with new and existing HPLC and LC-MS hardware/software to evaluate customer readiness according to defined requirements and with a strong focus on understanding customer applications within target industries e.g. Pharmaceutical/Bio-pharmaceutical, Food Safety and Environmental.
Planning and execution of experiments to develop competitive analysis of sample preparation and HPLC consumables to support product positioning in key markets and against the competition. Constant review and internal communication on competitors’ application literature to enable development of appropriate strategies and responses.
Be responsible for the creation of applications and related collateral (Application Notes, Application Briefs, Technical Notes, White Papers) on new and established consumable products in collaboration with Marketing, Product Management based on customer feedback.
Work in cross-functional teams with product management, product marketing, vertical marketing and R&D in new product introduction projects.
Establish and build worldwide customer interactions and networks to bring together information (Voice of Customer) related to market trends, customer needs, support and education.
General laboratory inventory maintenance and consumables organization to further safety, efficiency, and result quality.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science or Master's in Analytical Chemistry or other relevant similar fields.
- 2 years of practical sample preparation e.g. SPE, LC-UV or LC-MS experience in clinical, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, food and Beverage or Environmental applications.
- Experienced in planning experiments and presentation of scientific results
- Pro-active personality with an organized working style
- Ability to work in a cross functional distributed team
- Excellent interpersonal abilities
- Ability to complete multiple projects with timelines
- Good knowledge of chromatography theory is desired
- Experience in instrument good practice and maintenance
