How will you make an impact?

We are seeking a Scientist II to join our R&D team for development of next generation sequencing assays for use in clinical laboratories.  Responsibilities will include sample preparation, instrument calibration and operation, and data analysis. A background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar discipline is required.  Significant hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory setting is a must.

What will you do?

  • Working with a multidisciplinary technology team for the development of next generation sequencing assays that will be used in clinical laboratories.
  • Responsibilities will include sample preparation, instrument operation, data analysis, and writing study protocols and reports.

How will you get here?

Education

  • BS Degree, 5 years or MS Degree, 3 years of industry/academic experience
  • A background in molecular biology, biotechnology or biochemistry is required (including DNA, RNA and protein handling, PCR, qPCR, quantification methods)
  • Knowledge of sequencing and molecular amplification methods
  • Basic knowledge of genomics

Experience

  • Next generation sequencing using the Ion Torrent Technology
  • Development of diagnostic assays that comply with various regulatory standards
  • Development of testing protocols and compilation of project reports
  • Product verification and validation
  • Experience with design control documentation preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow molecular biology protocols and strictly adhere to all steps
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis and interpretation (proficient in Microsoft Office)
  • Be comfortable working in a large and busy laboratory with many other team members
  • Work experience in a clinical laboratory or core laboratory facility preferred

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $73,000.00–$86,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
