How will you make an impact?
This position is a member of the Supply Chain department at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Madison, WI, and is a key role in supporting the procurement of direct material goods and services. In this role, you will be tasked with generating, analyzing, and coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost-effective and timely manner.
What will you do?
- Execute and manage purchasing transactions (purchase orders or other agreements) to support site and manufacturing requirements
- Resolving invoicing and receiving issues
- Manage and maintain supplier relationships
- Manage, analyze and report on inventory levels
- Monitor supply chain key performance indicators, perform root cause analysis, implement action plans, and strives for continuous improvement Ensure data integrity of master data elements
- Develop and maintain standard work to document Buyer/Planner responsibilities
- Review, resolve and escalate issues that impact plan completion
- Create Ad hoc reports/analysis as requested or required
- Other duties as assigned
How will you get here?
Education:
- Minimum required education: Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or Business Administration preferred or high school diploma/GED with 5 years’ experience in supply chain or materials management in lieu of degree
Experience:
- 0 to 2 years of previous supply chain planning, buying or materials management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- 0 to 2 years of experience with MRP/ERP systems, SAP preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- APICS or related professional certification preferred
- Previous experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform data analysis
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office suite
- Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills
