Description
Third Way Center is looking for a fulltime Vocational Education assistant, 30 hours a week. The Vocational Education Assistant at Third Way Center will perform all responsibilities in a manner that is reflective of the mission and philosophy of Third Way Center. The Vocational Education Assistant shall be sensitive to the Cultural differences among the children, their families and the Third Way Center Staff and respond appropriately to these differences. The Vocational Education Assistant is a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The assistant reports directly to the Director of Vocational Education.
Responsibilities:

Serves as assistant to the Director of Vocational/Education and Independent Living Skills Program.

Work with residents in the Day Program by facilitating job groups, volunteer activities and community outings as needed.

Assist with Independent Living Skills Group at the Lowry Campus

Research various educational activities in the communities for Day Program participants.

Assist students with GED, ACT or SAT in conjunction with school staff.

Assist in exploring and enrollment in Career Education Center, colleges, vocational programs, apprenticeship program. This is accomplished through field trips, college fairs, assistance with the application process, and financial aid such as with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion.

Assist in employment and internship processes of Third Way residents. This includes assessing resident’s potential for employment, including obtaining and maintaining employment. Provide job coaching, job development or working with other agencies such as Vocational Rehabilitation services, special education programs, work study programs, internships etc.

Develop potential job prospects in the community for resident’s employment.

Follow-up services include maintaining contact with employers to address progress and problem solving as well as assisting them in developing community-based resources.

Assist residents in obtaining vital documents such as social security cards, birth certificates (in state and out of state).

Assist in the facilitation, coordination and development of ongoing job search, and career exploration.

Invite guest speakers to assist speak to residents in classes and job skills groups.

Assist in the milieu as needed.

Participate in staffing's as requested.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree preferred. The candidate must possess a current valid Colorado driver's license, have a clean driving record(no DUI/DWAI in the last five years), clean criminal record and be at least 23 years of age. Additionally, the candidate must pass an extensive background and DMV check. We follow Federal Drug Screening laws. Candidate must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
