What are the responsibilities and job description for the Video Producer position at Thorlabs?
Purpose of the Position
The Video Producer is a master videographer capable of working seamlessly with technical staff and/or management to generate exemplary video and motion graphics that are technically accurate and in-line with Thorlabs brand standards and business objectives. They will be responsible for producing, shooting, and editing high quality short-form and long-form video content.
Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations, including international offices.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
- Executes the conception, development, and production of video and digital media content.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of storytelling through digital media.
- Uses deep knowledge of production equipment and gear, camera and lighting setups, and experience directing on set to guide videography efforts to produce high-quality results that are technically accurate, adhere to brand guidelines, and meet business needs.
- Films, produces, and edits video projects, including capturing/importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating, and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, adding music/voice-over/sfx, media management, and archiving project media.
- Devises unique, creative ideas for new video features, content and enhancements that advance objectives and elevate video production quality.
- Uses creativity and excellent aesthetic judgement to create high quality and innovative deliverables.
- Collaborates with other videographers, technical staff, graphics, management, and business units within a team environment to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Ability to produce high-quality, error-free results, all while under tight time constraints.
- Trains and mentors other videographers. Training includes proper lighting, new equipment usage, appropriate lens selection, editing techniques, etc.
