What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Coach position at Thorne Consulting?
Summary of Position: Pre-ETS Specialists shall perform direct support and coaching duties to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities. Pre-ETS Specialist shall work with individual or small groups of students to complete milestones as defined in the Scope of Work of the current year's contract with Vocational Rehabilitation for Pre-ETS services; and generate and submit summary reports of student progress to the Director in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities: The duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Develop professional, productive working relationships with key school personnel for the purpose of facilitating delivery of Pre-ETS activities with referred students.
2. Work with Students at Worthing HS and Sterling HS in the greater Houston Area.
3. Develop and maintain a schedule for accessing students, including developing lesson plans for individual or small group work, and effectively communicating schedules and plans.
4. Develop and maintain service records for each enrolled student, including current academic schedule, and attendance records for Pre-ETS participation.
5.Provide direct Pre-ETS services to students who are potentially eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation both virtually and in person for assigned geographical area.
6. Provide coaching or instruction of assigned Pre-ETS milestones to students, either individually or in small groups.
Education/Minimum Requirements:
1. Must be able to pass a background check.
2. Education/Experience: a. Have a B.S. degree in Social Sciences/Human Service or related field; or, b. Have at least three years’ experience working in a direct support position serving individuals with disabilities; or c. Have at least three years’ experience working with adolescent-age populations.
