General Summary
The Director of Design and Construction oversees all aspects of new store construction and major remodeling process from preliminary and scheduling through final construction, ensuring on-time completion and within project budget guidelines and quality of execution. This position must ensure the financial well-being of the various projects while managing Construction (project) managers and Design Manager, reviewing contracts, and authorizing design construction plans. This position will implement construction standards and practices that provide best long-term protection of investment assets and best value to our stakeholders. Develop and expect a culture of safety from your team, General Contractors, Sub-Contractors and suppliers.
Essential Job Functions (Responsible to)
- Plans and directs all aspects of the organization’s construction function
- Oversees all construction projects and store design
- Provides input and evaluation on all potential new store locations
- Directs construction and design managers to make sure all projects are completed on time, within the budget and according to established specifications
- Oversee a budget for each project including hard costs, soft costs as well as tracking those costs from project inception through completion.
- Responsible for executing all transactions relating to Project Descriptions and Conceptual Planning.
- Scope development and review on a component and aggregate basis to ensure complete coverage for the entire project
- Monitoring project schedule and advising on critical path for completion
- Evaluates and contracts with outside civil engineers, petroleum engineers and architects on behalf of the organization
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
