What are the responsibilities and job description for the Practice Growth Director position at Thrivent?
This position will support one of our eight Thrivent Advisor Groups. Alignment to the Advisor Group will be determined at a later time; residing within the Advisor Group is preferred but not required.
A successful Practice Growth Director will:
Foster and support the practice and productivity growth, teaming, and succession of experienced, successful financial advisors in both individual and team practices. The position will be accountable for growing target practices including identifying and adding more specialized roles to teams, robust annual business planning, and assisting with more complex revenue sharing agreements
Skillfully coach others and encourages collaboration between advisors across tenure, productivity levels through peer-to-peer forums, one-on-one coaching and regional meetings.
Be deeply committed and knowledgeable of Thrivent’s advice and solutions. Align and deliver team results on a consistent advice experience and implement product solutions, both protection and investments. The position will be accountable for delivering growth in ANBP, new clients, and RFOB.
Assists in group capacity growth by focusing on the retention of experienced advisors, their practices and through teaming and advice-providing capacity additions. Additionally, through strong Advisor relationships and trust building, the role will produce “warm-sourced" referral candidates to the local Group and Teams.
Assists in identifying the need to add to teams, sourcing onto teams, interviewing and selection for target practices.
Builds collaborative relationships with the National Practice Group, Advisor Growth, Advice and Wholesaling Centers of Excellence and other regional leaders with attention to strategic alignment and local Group advisor needs.
Coach and motivate Grow Team Practices:
Coach veteran practices and cultivate a positive and productive veteran advisor culture that results in increased productivity (sales, revenue, new clients, practice leverage and building team structures).
Coach and support advisors on exploring and executing on team models in partnership with the Succession, Teaming and JFW COE.
Help experienced advisor practices increase professionalism and deliver an exceptional client experience through Purposeful Advice framework.
Be available and proactive to support experienced with business plans and goals through an efficient contact approach; coach and provide tools as needed to ensure their success. Create and execute strategies to help build more productive practices including book management, client service models and adding staff positions
Encourage and support cooperation with experienced advisors in working with new advisors (joint field work and book management). Recognize and praise collaborative contributions and accomplishments.
Coach appropriate experienced advisors on succession planning to help ensure smooth transitions of their clients and business. Partner with the Succession Team in the COE.
Focus on advisor and team segmentation strategies such as forming and facilitating study groups, helping advisors present ideas to peers, build culture with advisors and Field leaders
Qualifications:
Four-year college degree strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years coaching financial advisors. Demonstrated experience and expertise working with more sophisticated advisors and practices strongly preferred.
Experience in using the Thrivent’s Purposeful Advice platform, Salesforce and other Thrivent tools and systems (i.e. CAP, Illustrations, etc.) and ability and willingness to model, promote and demonstrate usage of tools as needed.
Expertise with foundational practice management topics required: client service models, adding staff/new advisors to a team or solo practice, model office, etc.
Familiarity with more advanced practice management topics: revenue sharing teams, legal entity team structures, advanced staff roles, -strongly preferred.
Ability to present and facilitate large and small groups in order to drive understanding of concepts and practices that lead to experienced advisor success.
Ability to utilize technology (i.e. salesforce, Power BI analytics) to connect with and coach advisors.
Professional designation or history of significant progress toward achievement preferred.
FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days.
State insurance licensed and appointed in life, health and variable lines of authority or obtained within 90 days.
State securities registered and insurance licensed and appointed in all states that comprise the group area.
Once advisors are assigned to this position, this position will require securities registrations, state insurance licenses and appointments in all states where advisors are conducting business and receiving commissions.
Satisfactory background check and clean compliance record.
Flexibility to travel within the region (may include overnight) and conduct business during evening hours.
