What are the responsibilities and job description for the Enterprise Content Management Leader position at Thumbtack?
About the Legal Team
Our legal team is responsible for managing risk across the business while doing proactive general counseling that allows Thumbtack to move quickly, make solid decisions and grow responsibly. We partner cross-functionally with finance, engineering, product, marketing, sales, the people team, operations and more to craft a marketplace that delivers business to our pros while helping millions of our users get their home projects done each year. Our job is to enable the company’s performance, while balancing the risk in front of us. We see ourselves as the “Road to Yes,” not the slippery slope to No.
About the Role
As the Enterprise Content Management Leader you will be responsible for implementing and executing policies that increase the operational rigor of our entire company. You will assess, develop, implement and manage the Company’s content across all functions and business units. This will immediately and for the foreseeable future focus on building a centralized policy governance system that includes templates, revision control, centralized storage and regular updating of all corporate wide policies. The role will expand from there to work with the Head of Legal Operations to include multiple forms of content which could include, but may not be limited to, email, slack, Google Suite, Board of Directors, and all other files and management systems that house content at Thumbtack.
You will report to the Head of Legal Operations with a strong dotted line to the Chief Legal Officer who will co-manage the role for the first two quarters while our Head of Legal Ops onboards and maximizes her Thumbtack knowledge and integration.
You will work closely with each member of the Legal Team, but also will be entrusted to quickly develop cross functional relationships throughout the entire organization. This role is entirely cross-functional and success will be dependent on your ability to quickly meet, learn, and question our partners about status quo document/policy management, and then develop a mature content governance system that serves our cross-functional partners’ needs, while maintaining a strong legal governance structure over the same.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage an enterprise content governance program that centralizes all Thumbtack policies. This includes implementing best practice for templates, policy drafting, revision control and regulated review, approval, maintenance and rollout.
- Work cross functionally with (at first) the People Team, Internal Tools, Finance, and Information Security, to ensure that all corporate wide policies are captured, reviewed, centralized, implemented and executed in a way that complies with best governance and change management practices.
- Eventually will develop, implement and maintain (with your cross functional partners) data classification and standards definitions across the entire organization (e.g. Confidential, Highly Confidential, Restricted) and will develop and deliver training on same.
- Design, implement, and maintain governance standards and guiding principles in the policy, data and enterprise wide content spaces in order to review, manage and control the full lifecycle of all Thumbtack content.
- Seek to understand the current state of enterprise wide content, specifically policies and processes, across the entire organization. This will include, but not be limited to, active collaboration through meetings/roundtables, interviews, group meetings and forums with relevant stakeholders/participants at Thumbtack.
- Identify appropriate tools needed to make this role effective and allow Thumbtack to centralize all Thumbtack policies and procedures. Work with procurement, Internal Tools and Legal partners to expand scope of existing tools or acquire and implement new tools that will best serve Thumbtack’s needs presently, and into the future as we grow and scale.
