Position Summary:
To assist in the provision of quality care to residents by carrying out the responsibilities and duties set in this position description. Performs housekeeping duties in the Resident apartments and common areas of the community. The Housekeeper position acts as an advocate, encourages and supports choice, independence and individuality and, provides confidentiality and respect to all Residents.
Position Responsibilities and Standards:
- Cleans (dust, dry mop, wet mop, sanitize, scrub) assigned Resident apartments and common areas daily according to facility procedures.
- Maintains par levels of supplies and assists with ordering of products
- Washes and folds laundry. Distributes clean linens and towels. Maintains a stocked cleaning cart with needed items.
- Keep facilities and common areas clean and maintained
- Understand proper use of community equipment
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors
- Able effectively to communicate with the staff members and Residents through verbal and/or written means.
- Clean and stock restrooms in both public and resident rooms
- Clean up spills
- Notify Management and/or Maintenance of any damage or repairs needed
- Collect and dispose of trash or other materials in a safe manner
- Assist residents when necessary
- Clean and organize community rooms as scheduled and as needed.
- Treat residents and their belongings with respect. Appreciates the importance of maintaining confidentiality of resident and facility information
Other Duties, including but not limited to:
- Responsible for completion of daily assignment tasks sheet
- Follow safety practices and standard precautions
- Use gait belts for transfers with residents for safety of Residents and staff at all times
- Assume own responsibility to demonstrate good body mechanics before ambulating, lifting, or transferring Residents
- Use equipment and supplies safely
- Report any and all changes in Resident’s condition to Management in a timely manner
- Document and chart according to Management
- Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions
- Attend monthly in-services as schedule by Management to meet DHS 83 training requirements
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of resident and facility property.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly and physically disabled population
- Able to understand and to follow written and verbal directions
- Able to respond productively and to handle additional tasks/projects as assigned.
- Ability to detect odors and see spots and spills.
- Confidentiality of all Resident and facility information
- 18 years of age
- This position requires tact, sensitivity, and professionalism at all times
- Good communication skills
- Have the ability to stand and walk for up to 6-8 hours per shift.
- Use hands for repetitive grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation
- Have the ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach.
- Physical ability to lift and transfer Residents using appropriate techniques and following any and all Policies on safe resident handling.
- Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations
